About the Lorekeeper
Sammy Jo is a narrative genealogist and historical storyteller whose research has been ongoing for nearly a decade. Her work focuses on colonial America, particularly North Carolina, and the transitional period between medieval and early modern legal systems.
After spending eight years working in the legal field, Sammy Jo brings a practiced understanding of court records, land deeds, and legal documents to her research. She uses these sources, alongside family histories and archival materials to reconstruct individual lives and trace how legal, social, and cultural forces shaped them.
Her work emphasizes historical context, placing personal stories within the systems of power, fear, and belief that defined their time. Through research-driven storytelling, she examines how ordinary lives were shaped by extraordinary circumstances, especially those of women whose stories were preserved quietly in the archives.
